With already 150 pre-registered skiers, this Sunday’s Nordic Spirit Ski Race and Tour will indeed surpass our previous turnouts. Skiers from around the state, Wisconsin, Michigan and even Canada have signed up for the DXC’s signature event.

The conditions will be perfect! Temperatures are expected to be in the mid teens at race start and low 20s by race end. After last week’s deep freeze, skiers will be delighted with their re-found glide. The City of Duluth grooming crew was pre-prepping the race course on Thursday and have completely tilled all the solid surfaces back into a pleasant skiable condition. Their final pass on race eve, with the warmer temperatures, will create the ideal racing conditions - a beautiful, wide lane of corduroy and nice deep tracks for the classic racers.

Our very generous sponsors have made it possible for us to treat skiers with a great post-race feed, a ski hat, gear bag, souvenir race-bib, and a HUGE table of door prizes to be given away at the awards ceremony. Stick around after the race, you must be present to win.

You can still register online at MidwestEvents.com through Janurary 25th. You can also pre-register at the packet pick-up/expo on Saturday, Janurary 26th from 6:00pm-7:30pm in the Moosehead Chalet on the downhill side of Spirit Mountain. Pre-registration is $40 through Saturday night and Race Day registration will be available for $50.

We hope you can make it Sunday. Come and ski or come and cheer. The start and finish line is right outside of the downhill chalet and will be easy and fun to watch. Another good spectator area would be at the log cabin warming hut directly up from the Spirit Mt. Nordic Chalet.
