The Lake Superior College Nordic Spirit Ski Race and Tour
Volunteer Info:
Not interested in doing the race, but still want to be a part of the Nordic Spirit? VOLUNTEER! As you know, a race of this size wouldn't be possible without the many volunteers who graciously donate their time and energy. We have many INDOOR and OUTDOOR volunteer opportunities as well as PRE-RACE and POST-RACE jobs.
Volunteer Positions:
Course Monitor:
Help direct racer traffic on the course and/or monitor car traffic at road crossings and/or monitor snowmobile traffic at snowmobile crossings.
(would need to be in place at 8:45am, a 2-3 hour commitment on January 31)
Course Set-Up:
Help set up course markers and/or prepare aid stations for race day.
(2-3 hour commitment on Jan. 30 (late afternoon) or Jan. 31 (early morning).
Registration Helper:
Help register racers in the Moosehead Chalet on Saturday evening (Jan. 30) from 6:00 – 7:30, or race morning (Jan. 31) from 7:00 – 8:15.
(Full commitment will last approximately 2 hours)
Start Line Helper:
Help with start line set-up and sound system set-up, then remain on standby to assist Joshua Tesch (race announcer) if he needs help with something.
(2 hour commitment on Jan. 31)
Finish Line Helper:
Help racers after they finish the race and help staff the finish line food station.
(would need to be in place at 9:00am, a 2-3 hour commitment on Jan. 31)
Aid Station Helper:
Help prepare aid stations and hand out refreshments to racers during the race - and cheer loudly for the racers! (would need to be in place at 9:00am, 2-3 hour commitment on Jan. 31)
