Member Profile: Tom Maloney and Brandy Forsman

How long have the two of you been skiing?
Tom: Classic since kid – bought skate stuff and did first Birkie in 2001.
Brandy: Did downhill ’til a friend corrupted me in 10th grade. We skied across Shagawa Lake and I was hooked. Started skating with Tom.

What are you favorite ski techniques?
Tom: Don’t make me answer that.
Brandy: Depends on the temperature.

What is your favorite local trail and why?
Tom: Piedmont (this year). It’s so well groomed, so close, so pretty, so zoomy, so well-skied, so deery, so owly, etc.
Brandy: There’s too many! But, yeah, Piedmont’s got the best screamers in Duluth . Billings Park in Superior is great for skating.

What is your favorite regional trail and why?
Tom: Afterhours. The cute shower curtain changing area and social atmosphere of warm hut.
Brandy: Ely’s North Arm Wilderness Trails.

What activities do you do off-season:
Tom: Sail, triathlons, relax.
Brandy: Swim, canoe, hiking up rivers, some tri’s

What is you all-time favorite ski story?
Tom: Acting like I’m going to crash into hecklers at Hecklers’ Hill. I get ‘em pretty good each year now.
